Butterfly valve

Butterfly valve is quarter turn rotary action valve used to stop, regulate and start flow.

Butterfly valves are easy and quick to open. Turning the handle 90° will allow the valve to fully close or open. Large Butterfly valves are usually equipped with a gearbox in which the gear wheel is attached to the body. This simplifies the operation of the valve.

Throttle service is limited to low differential pressure

Cavitation and blocked flow are two possible concerns

Disc motion is unguided and affected by flow turbulence
